Brian F. Peters was born in Santa Clara, California, and grew up in the heartland of the United States. He joined the United States Army in 1980. He served for 20 years, working in a variety of assignments, including in the Military Police and in the Recruiting Command.
Following his military career, Brian took his skills into the private sector and in 2009, founded Strategic Contract Solutions, Inc. (“SCS”). Through SCS, Brian has provided confident, results-focused leadership by using a combination of his skills as a strategic planner, team facilitator, and conflict negotiator. Specifically, Brian has assisted the small business community with business development, certifications, human resources consulting and advising, safety programs, loss prevention strategies and strategies on teaming and competing for private and public sector projects. One example of Brian's teaming activities is his current work with the Sacramento Kings on the building of the new arena. Working with the Sacramento Regional Business Exchange Brian & SCS encourage small and local businesses to bid on arena work. To date, the efforts have been successful in bringing in a variety of contractors to work on the sports complex.
In addition to his consulting and teaming activities, Brian has worked in the community through workforce development grants and job development activities. Finally, in his efforts to support the construction industry as a whole, Brian formed the statewide, Construction Trades Compliance Program. This Program aims to educate companies and individuals on various licensing and certification requirements for a variety of trades. The Program also works to ensure compliance with current laws to assist in industry advancement so that trade companies that follow the law are competing on a level playing field when submitting bids. The Program has resulted in the enforcement of several contractors by the State for violating licensing laws.
